Fort Benning Tactical Equipment Maintenance Facility

Fort Benning LEED® Commissioning
The Tactical Equipment Maintenance Facility (TEMF) at the Fort Benning U.S. Army Base provides for the repair, maintenance, and redeployment of vehicles and tactical equipment that have been in service around the world.  Much of the equipment has seen severe war conditions and extreme environments in Iraq and Afghanistan.  TEMF supports the complete restoration of damaged and worn vehicles and equipment to battle-ready condition.

The facility is a cluster of eight buildings, each with a specific function related to the restoration of vehicles and equipment for redeployment, with sizes ranging from 900 to 74,947 sq ft.  The functions of the buildings include: major and minor maintenance and repair, vehicle body repair, painting, bead-blasting, dynamometer, oil storage and hazardous-materials storage.  The US Army Corps of Engineers has set a target of LEED Silver Certification for this project.

Our role was to provide Fundamental Commissioning (LEED EA Prerequisite 1) to satisfy a requirement for any level of LEED Certification.  We collaborated with the entire design and construction team to consolidate the efforts of the team members leading to a successfully operational maintenance facility.
