Morrison Hershfield's study provided a long-term solution for the provision of water and wastewater services to the entire 190 km2 Springbank area. The study investigated the potential for a regional solution, taking into account potential development that could economically be serviced by such a system or series of systems. The “regional solution” approach investigated the potential to service the watershed areas identified in the Central Springbank Area Structure Plan Sub-Basin Study, covering over 57 square miles.
Morrison Hershfield worked closely with not only the MD of Rocky View, but also with Alberta Environment and the Calgary Health Region. The study focused on an overall regional solution to the area of approximately 55,000 residents.
Morrison Hershfield received the Consulting Engineers of Alberta’s Award of Merit for Studies in 2002 for this project.
