Verification of a Bank’s Greenhouse Gas Inventory
Verification of a Bank's Greenhouse Gas Inventory

GHG verification was undertaken for the Bank of Montreal (BMO) world-wide corporate carbon footprint for reporting to the Carbon Disclosure Project for the previous two reporting years.

In addition to providing BMO with assurance that its GHG footprint was accurate to international standards (ISO 14064-1), we identified where improvements could be implemented.  Our work included verifying emissions from fuel, electricity, and transportation (air, rail, vehicular) covering 900 North American and International operations and over 65 million flight kilometers.

Robust quantification of corporate GHG footprints and GHG reduction measures is a critical reporting element, whether for compliance reporting under a cap-and-trade system, generating GHG offset credits, or for voluntary benchmarking.
