The Morrison Hershfield team with their knowledge and expertise of emergency service, civil, mechanical, electrical, structural and fire protection engineering provided an integrate approach to system development and risk management for optimum value. In addition to providing system, materials and construction methods alternatives and recommending a solution, the team participated in hazard assessment and risk analysis sessions and did hydraulic modeling for preferred solutions. Drawing and specification completion, tendering and purchasing assistance and construction support was provided.
Participating as part of the NOVA team providing the design, Morrison Hershfield suggested technical solutions to ensure the installation of the new system did not compromise the protection level necessary on a high risk industrial site. The design required that minimum fire flows be maintained during construction as well as a minimum twenty-five year life. The challenge also included minimizing the impact that the upgrade might have on the remaining north loop of the plant.
