Transit Priority Feasibility Study
Transit Priority Feasibility Study Morrison Hershfield
The City of Ottawa ON commissioned a study to investigate alternative concepts, high-level technical feasibility, potential impacts, and approximate costs of implementing transit priority measures on Carling Avenue between Richmond Road and the Lincoln Fields Transitway Station access east of the Ottawa River Parkway.  The objective of the transit priority measures was to improve the competitiveness of transit by reducing travel times and improving travel time reliability.

Morrison Hershfield provided the following services in undertaking this assignment:

  • Developed and compared transit lane options
  • Developed functional plans for short-listed median and curb side alternatives
  •  Developed order-of-magnitude cost estimates
  • Analyzed transit operations
  • Prepared a feasibility study report

Morrison Hershfield developed affordable transit/roadway conceptual designs that could be accommodated with minimal impacts in the constrained existing urban arterial right-of-way.  Architectural renderings were prepared to illustrate the median transit lanes and median platform concept that were unique to the City.
