Morrison Hershfield conducted a building condition assessment of the building envelope components including roof, wall, windows, stone and brick masonry, doors and other cladding types. A renewals plan was developed for 12 Queen's University residence buildings, setting up a priority system and database to facilitate modifications to the plan based on available funding. Morrison Hershfield implemented the plan and incorporated the other building systems with an overall master plan. Tendering and construction services were also provided.
The residence buildings included a four storey, load-bearing Kingston Limestone structure constructed circa 1923 as well as a 12-storey building originally constructed circa 1960 as a nurse’s residence for the Kingston General Hospital.
