Our role in this project was to:

• Evaluate the current level of service provided by the fire and ambulance services for medical rescue and fire emergencies as defined by staffing levels, training equipment and response statistics

• Define the level of risk for the present and immediate future using emergency response statistics, specific building risks and development plans

• Determine the expectations of the residents through survey and interviews with stakeholders

• Recommend response capabilities and methods of cooperating to enhance emergency services

• Present the findings to joint Council for review and discussion

The study provided a third party assessment of the capabilities of the existing Ambulance and Fire Services.  Recommendations were presented to the elected officials to determine the future of their emergency service. 

Morrison Hershfield’s “integrated systems” approach to conducting fire protection studies, combined with staff knowledge and experience, created a framework for optimizing resources.  Our attention to team building with maximum input from stakeholders created a positive outlook on the recommendations.
