Structural Repair of Snow-Pack Damaged Transmission Towers
Structural Repair of Snow Packed Damaged Transmission Towers Morrison Hershfield
British Columbia received a record snowfall during 1999 and dozens of transmission towers were badly damaged jeopardizing service.  Morrison Hershfield was contracted by the client to design permanent repairs to several towers with fractured tower legs and other critical members.

Morrison Hershfield designed new members and prepared shop drawings, as well as designed a crane-lifting bracket to support the towers during the sequential removal of the legs while the tower remained “live.”

Morrison Hershfield was able to provide the requisite engineering skills to meet the tight design and construction window to ensure the repairs were made before the next winter season.
