Phase 1, which is pursuing LEED Silver, involves the demolition and reconfiguration of interior elements while preserving most of the existing structure and envelope.
Phase 2, the new Social Sciences Building which is pursuing LEED Gold, replaces an outdated structure by improving on the spatial use of the site. The energy modeler and building envelope professional are working together to maximize the energy efficiency of the building. Preliminary model results indicate a 55% improvement over the Model National Energy Code for Buildings reference building.
