Morrison Hershfield was retained to look at the water demands needed to meet the fire code requirements and design modifications to the internal system to satisfy those requirements. This included the design of a new firewater booster pump station in a secure room with its own power supply that takes lower pressure water from the City distribution system and boosts it to the pressure needed to feed the fire suppressions systems within the plant.
As a result of the project the requirements of the fire code were met. The plant could operate safety and productively, and better insurance rates obtained.
