The project involved our land use planning specialists and experts in landscape design, electrical and transportation design, tendering and construction review. We undertook groundwater monitoring, sampling and analytical protocols, and conducted environmental impact assessments. To optimize sustainability, the work was carefully planned to be phased to accommodate current conditions as well as future conditions.
A wet pond was built on a current deep excavation that was used as a gravel extraction site. The south soccer field was not built until the massive stockpile of gravel in the area was exhausted. The irrigation system was supplied by the storm pond, eliminating the use of treated water for irrigation. We designed access roadway and soccer field lighting with the intent of balancing capital cost with operational and lifetime cost.
