Morrison Hershfield was originally retained to assess interior moisture load problems within the historic lighthouse on the grounds of the Canada Science & Technology Museum, as there had been ongoing issues with excessive moisture accumulation inside the main lighthouse structure and the concrete foundation. Relative humidity levels have been extreme during some seasons, with a corresponding negative impact on the historic components of the structure and equipment.
Morrison Hershfield conducted an initial assessment followed by the monitoring and subsequent analysis of recorded temperature and moisture levels inside the superstructure and substructure. Following this work, Morrison Hershfield provided reports providing likely sources and proposed repairs. Subsequently, Morrison Hershfield was retained to design repairs intended to manage moisture loads
