Harris Broadcast Tower Morrison Hershfield
After a large number of tornadoes hit Kentucky in April 1974, one of the biggest challenges emergency and public safety officials faced was the capability to communicate with each other.  As a result, the State of Kentucky created the Kentucky Emergency Warning System (KEWS) that provides an “always on” microwave backbone for state public safety agencies.

33 years later, Morrison Hershfield was selected to provide architectural and engineering design services to help modernize the KEWS network.  Morrison Hershfield was responsible for conducting site surveys on 15 sites to capture design information, assess the existing structures, and design upgrades for more modern network equipment at each site.

Once all of the data was gathered, Morrison Hershfield was able to provide the client with site designs, stamped construction drawings, geotechnical and environmental studies, structural engineering and emergency generator layout design.
