HVAC Replacement at a Community Center Library
HVAC Replacement Community Center Library
Built in 1975 and renovated in 1989, the Thornhill Community Center Library in Ontario forms part of a community center complex, along with an arena and community facilities. It has approximately 23,000 sq. ft. of collection and auditorium space.  The Town of Markham had expressed concerns related to the air distribution system in the library mezzanine and lower levels of the library.
Morrison Hershfield carried out an investigation and provided recommendations with regard to the HVAC system. Morrison Hershfield subsequently provided engineering design services, prepared drawings and specifications, conducted periodic field review during construction, and assisted the Town of Markham with contract administration. In order to provide the require level of comfort in each distinct area of the facilities, Morrison Hershfield recommended that three separate air systems, each system serving specific zones within the Center, be incorporated into the design work, and each zone to be controlled by dedicated components. The reduction of energy consumption was also deemed a key project requirement.
