Greater Toronto Airports Authority 276 kV Distribution System

Morrison Hershfield was retained by the Greater Toronto Airports Authority to develop and implement a new 27.6 kV underground distribution system at Pearson International Airport to service all airport facilities.  We were able to achieve the transition of services (integration of existing systems with new services) without interrupting airport operations.

For this project, we::
  • Provided detailed study of the Airport electrical service requirements
  • Produced detailed final design to provide a redundant distribution system to all of the Airport facilities to ensure every location could be serviced from at least two independent power sources
  • Produced design documents including technical specification for 27.6 kV switchgear, transformation, cabling and all associated civil work
  • Provided technical specifications for 27.6 kV switchgear, transformer, cabling and all associated civil work
  • Produced drawings including single line distribution diagram, underground duct bank installation and details, switchgear installation and final as-built record drawings which were developed in conjunction with aerial thermographic photography
  • Provided full time resident supervision for quality assurance and co-ordination issues
