The project involved the development of a 120-acre greenfield site. It included grading, utility services, drainage and roads. Offsite services included an 800-metre water line and an 800-metre access road from the highway. The main 60 meter (200 foot) by 153 meter (500 foot) building contained office space, a stove plant and warehouse. A full preliminary engineering design concept was developed for several building alternatives. Considerations included truck access for loading, foundations, structure, heating and ventilation, electrical and fire code issues. This information provided the basis for the owner to negotiate a design build contract with a building supplier. Morrison Hershfield completed the detailed design and construction supervision for the site grading and full servicing and supporting infrastructure.
Morrison Hershfield was able to take Vanderwell’s general overall vision and goals for the project and develop them into an engineering design and see the project through to fruition.
