The University of Alberta's Arts Building exterior displays vintage masonry, sandstone and terra cotta features, representative of early 20th century architecture and construction. It is fully functional today as a teaching and performing arts facility. It also houses the University Senate Boardroom, and is an icon of the University of Alberta Campus.
Morrison Hershfield conducted a complete building envelope assessment to advise on the status of components of the exterior building envelope. Recommendations were made for immediate and long-term measures to repair, maintain and preserve the future of this structure.
Work included:
- A detailed Building Envelope Review and Assessment to plan for future capital and maintenance requirements in the preservation and maintenance of this building
- Identification of immediate tactical measures and long-term strategic remedial actions and costs
