EMS Headquarters Electrical Infrastructure Upgrade Morrison Hershfield
This EMS Headquarters houses the operations of City of Toronto’s Emergency Medical Services and Toronto Fire Services Control Centers, as well as a backup Control Center for the Toronto Police Services.  The facility is considered to be mission-critical and the reliability of its electrical systems is vital to its operations.
Morrison Hershfield carried out an audit of the critical electrical systems, and was subsequently, awarded the detailed design of a redundant electrical distribution system, as recommended in the Audit Report.  A redundant precision cooling system and clean agent fire suppression system for the new UPS room were also designed.  Since this is a critical facility, Morrison Hershfield developed a transition strategy for maintaining critical power at the facility and ensuring minimal interruption to the operations of the Medical and Fire Services Control Centers while the upgrades are being implemented.
