Devon Energy Tower

The Devon Energy World headquarters in Oklahoma City is a fifty story tower.  As part of the design and construction of the Devon Energy Tower, we provided review of the architects design and trade submittals, witnessed laboratory testing of the envelope assemblies and will be providing observation of the field mock-up assemblies as well as the course of construction.

Morrison Hershfield's role on this project included the following:

  • Discussed with the design team the various options for maintaining the plane of air tightness in the curtain wall assemblies and assisted them in implementing a traditional design approach using the insulated glazing units and spandrel panels as the plane of the air tightness.
  • For the unitized metal panel system, assisted with the implementation of an air tight metal back pan system that provided a continuous air barrier as well as a secondary barrier against water intrusion in a high performance rainscreen design approach.
  • Assisted with the integration of the air barrier transition details between the cladding and glazing systems and the roof assemblies
  • Reviewed shop drawing submittals to ensure the continuity of the air barrier in the manufacturer’s design and witness laboratory mock-up testing to confirm the performance of these assemblies with respect to air leakage.

In addition, we will be providing periodic field observation of these assemblies throughout the construction phase.
