Cuba Marina LEED Feasibility Study
Cuba Marina LEED Feasibility Study
A LEED Feasibility Study for the Cuba Marina Project in Veradaro was undertaken on behalf of the Paris-based construction firm and building developer Bouygues Bâtiments International. The study was based on the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) LEED® for New Construction and Major Renovations, version 3.

In undertaking the study for this new resort development we reviewed design documentation and conducted meetings with Bouygues’ design and construction staff as well as Bouygues’ Cuban government client. We also reviewed other Varadero-area resort developments that were either under construction or recently completed, such as the one pictured above, to gain an understanding of current design and construction practices employed by Bouygues and in the Cuban hotel industry in general.

We facilitated high-level design discussions in Cuba with involvement from key project stakeholders in the Cuban government as well as hotel operations staff, in an attempt to understand the barriers and opportunities for green building design in the years ahead.  A summary written document outlining the outcomes of our research, on-site discussions, and analysis was produced.
