Morrison Hershfield met the building envelope challenges by providing:

• Design assistance during the design phase, including review of architectural drawings and specifications
• Review of the shop drawings and product information sheets to ensure compliance with design documents
• Construction review of the curtain wall glazing, metal clad and stone clad wall systems as well as the roof systems
• Review and witness of the manufacturing and mock-up testing of the curtain wall glazing system in China, to verify the performance standards required by the Miami-Dade County code
• Practical constructible design alternatives that ensure envelope performance for the client, architects and general contractor

Our review and experience with performance testing contributed to the high performance design of the building in the extreme weather environment.  We interfaced with the design, construction and client teams in a seamless manner and responded quickly to issues that arose during construction, ensuring that the client’s schedule was not impacted. 

The new U.S. terminal accounts for about 80% of the airport’s outbound passengers.  The striking building provides tourists and locals alike with a positive and lasting impression.
