Building 1000, Kitsap Naval Base
Kitsap Naval Base Building 1000

The U.S. Navy required the design of a pressure equalized rainscreen cladding system to replace the failed EIFS as part of the rehabilitation of Building 1000 at the Kitsap Naval Station in Bremerton, WA.

We were retained as part of a design-build team to provide the design of a new metal cladding system to replace a failed EIFS system on this twelve story tower housing sailors during shore leave. We provided a pressurized equalized rainscreen design that met NAVFAC’s requirements and included a continuous exterior insulated air barrier membrane tied into the existing glazing and roofing/waterproofing systems. We reviewed the trade submittals, observed the mock-up assemblies as well as the course of construction and witnessed air barrier testing of representative assemblies from both a qualitative and quantitative perspective.
