Morrison Hershfield was responsible for the detailed design for demolition and Class 3 asbestos abatement of an existing 40-year old, 60,000 lb/hr, steam boiler and interconnections; the temporary relocation of numerous pipes, cables and instrumentation; the opening and enlarging of the CHCP access door and floor reinforcement atop the basement to enable the 29 ft long ´ 15 ft high ´ 14 ft wide 130,000 lb boiler to be rolled into place; and the new high efficiency, low emission 100,000 lb/hr boiler installation, including interconnections.
Steam is a critical year-round utility for heating and a summer requisite for steam turbine-driven chillers and therefore cannot be interrupted. Morrison Hershfield staged all facets of the new boiler integration without unforeseen disruption to operations.
