Airport Utilities Master Plan
LBPIA Utilities Master Plan, Morrison Hershfield

The Greater Toronto Airport Authority has developed a strategy for accommodating air passenger growth at Toronto’s Lester B. Pearson International Airport for the next two decades. A key success factor of the expansion plan is the provision of site services and utilities for the various facilities as they are constructed.

Morrison Hershfield entered into a joint venture arrangement to prepare a utilities master plan for the Airport.   Morrison Hershfield was responsible for the high temperature hot water, chilled water, electricity and telecommunications components of the utilities master plan.

Morrison Hershfield’s substantial experience in the planning and design of utilities were key factors in the success of the Utilities Master Plan. The master plan is still used as a point of reference, as the basis of planning the individual segments as projects evolve, and for integration into the overall systems.  The planning elements became the basis of detailed design guidelines for all utilities related work at the airport.  Most importantly, the utilities master plan is flexible enough to adapt to the evolution of the airport.
