Airport Land Development Morrison Hershfield
The Calgary Airport Authority (CAA) plans to develop 700 acres for industrial, aviation and recreational land within a ten year period.   The plans include McCall North and Deerfoot South trade parks.   Significant design was required to create effective stormwater management facilities on the Deerfoot South site.  Morrison Hershfield integrated the facilities to provide for the largest area possible for saleable commercial property.  On the McCall North site, Morrison Hershfield prepared the site for the future expansion of WestJet’s Head Office, hangar expansion, and expanded parking facilities.

 Morrison Hershfield's role was to:

  • Revise stormwater ditching, piping and storm pond design
  • Gather topographical surveys
  • Prepare specifications and tendering, survey layouts, site supervision and provide materials testing
  • Prepare the Operations Plan
  • Perform a detailed review of all activities to ensure no interference with runways
  • Provide environmental planning to meet Federal, Alberta Environment and City of Calgary regulations
  • Establish design criteria such as road widths, lot sizes, easement, right-of-way, phasing, storm drainage management review, and irrigation options
