Spray Polyurethane Foam certification
Morrison Hershfield currently offers and develops certification programs for manufacturers of medium density polyurethane foam products which are used in thermal insulation and air barrier system applications in commercial, residential and industrial building construction in the Canadian market.
In Canada, medium density spray applied polyurethane foam insulation for residential, commercial and industrial building applications requires approval and listing by the Canadian Construction Materials Centre (CCMC) and compliance by Underwriters’ Laboratories of Canada (ULC) standards:
CAN/ULC-S705.1 "Standard for Thermal Insulation – Spray Applied Rigid Polyurethane Foam, Medium Density – Material – Specification."
CAN/ULC-S705.2, "Standard for Thermal Insulation – Spray Applied Rigid Polyurethane Foam, Medium Density – Application."
As part of the CCMC approval , the foam manufacturer, must have an approved Site Quality Assurance Program (SQAP), must ensure that the product has been installed by qualified, licensed installers and that field inspections are carried out by a third party certification organization.
Morrison Hershfield plays an active role in the spray foam industry and currently has a seat on the CAN/ULC task group in Canada working with industry, government and other stakeholders to develop product and application standards for the spray foam industry. We can work alongside the manufacturers to develop a certification program which ensures that the product installers have been trained, tested, evaluated and certified in accordance with manufacturers’ requirements and the installation standard (CAN/ULC- S705.2).
