Let morrison hershfield help you with your qap needs
Morrison Hershfield is a multidisciplinary engineering firm with offices across North America. We are an internationally recognized leader in the building enclosure field and have the capacity to provide Quality Assurance Programs (QAPs) on a national level for on-site product installation. Additionally, we are able to provide a wide spectrum of supporting consulting services to our clients, ranging from QAP development, management and implementation, to complete project audits.
Our building envelope experts focus on preventing and solving performance problems associated with the enclosures of buildings. Our strength is our team of engineers, architects, technologists and construction trade specialists who have a direct knowledge of the issues involved with providing a functional and durable building envelope. We consistently provide solutions that help create high performance building envelope systems
One method of improving energy efficiency, performance and durability of the building envelope is the application of spray polyurethane foam. Medium density spray foam insulation for residential, industrial and commercial use in Canada requires approval and listing from the Canadian Construction Materials Center (CCMC). To achieve listing, a manufacturer must meet stringent physical characteristics and have an approved Site Quality Assurance Program (SQAP).
An approved SQAP includes a personnel certification program and ensures that product installers have been properly trained, tested, and evaluated in accordance with applicable standards and manufacturer’s requirements. This provides assurance for building owners, architects, engineers, building officials, and other stakeholders that the product is being installed correctly.
We have the technical and project management expertise and resources to help you with a custom QAP which can include any or all of the following features:
- Training and certification program for product installers including independent, third-party evaluation of installers’ practical skills in the field
- Establishing requirements for, and carrying out, independent, third-party project audits which assess conformance to applicable standards and manufacturer recommendations
In addition, manufacturers, designers and contractors who specify and use the products covered by the QAP benefit from the specialized consulting experience that can be provided by Morrison Hershfield to address specific concerns by various project stakeholders.
Morrison Hershfield plays an active role in the spray foam industry and we currently hold a seat on the CAN/ULC task group in Canada, where we work with industry, government and other stakeholders to develop product and application standards for the spray foam industry.
