Abbotsford Regional Hospital and Cancer Centre / LEED Gold
Jean-Pierre Mahé, MRAIC, Morrison Hershfield with Ray Eldridge, PCL Constructors Westcoast Ltd.

The Abbotsford Regional Hospital and Cancer Centre is a 300-bed, 5-storey, 60,000 square metre acute care hospital providing enhanced and specialized health services to more than 330,000 residents in the Fraser Valley Region.  It is the first such health care facility to be built in British Columbia in three decades. The facility was delivered under an alternative procurement method — a Public-Private Partnership.

At the 2010 CaGBC conference in Vancouver and the RAIC/SAA conference in Saskatoon, the authors presented the unique perspective of the Design Build Team Project Architect /LEED AP and the builder’s M&E coordinator.  This presentation provides information on designing and building a LEED Canada-NC Gold health care facility under a fast-track design-build contract.
