Associations across the nation are increasingly seeking new and innovative ways to help the environment and reduce costs.  Value engineering is a systematic method for a community association to go "green" by understanding that various portions of the budget are integrally connected to each other, and should not be treated as stand alone parts.  Implementing a "value engineering" approach to the budget will help an association reduce the long term costs associated with maintenance, reserves and energy, as well as their environmental footprint on the earth.  This program will discuss how to cut energy costs with higher efficiency equipment and slash maintenance and replacement costs by initially spending more on better materials and appropriately funding reserve schedules.

What you will learn:

  • What "green" really means
  • How to make reserve, maintenance and energy costs work together to save money
  • How to incorporate value engineering into bidding replacement projects
