The Transportation Association of Canada (TAC) Annual Conference is being held September 26-29, 2010 in Halifax NS. Titled “Adjusting to New Realities”, public and private-sector conference participants will focus on the need for greater efficiency and innovation during the current economic times. Morrison Hershfield is a national silver level sponsor of the event.
The conference is a natural fit with Morrison Hershfield. The firm offers a full range of transportation services, including sustainable transportation and maintaining aging infrastructure. Bassam Hamwi, M.Eng., P.Eng., MITE, Manager Transportation Planning, is a member of the TAC Finance Standing Committee of the Urban Transportation Council and the Green Guide for Roads Task Force. Cam Nelson, M.E.Des., B.Sc., Senior Project Manager, is chair of the Road Safety Standing Committee.
One of the conference highlights is recognition of Samah El-Tantawy as this year’s recipient of the Morrison Hershfield TAC Foundation scholarship. The scholarship supports the development of future transportation professionals and leaders by providing financial aid to undergraduates and post-graduates. Samah El-Tantawy’s major area of interest is integrated traffic control, and better utilizing the existing infrastructure to efficiently transport people and goods through the transportation network.
