The Three Nations Bridge Crossing (also called the Seaway International Bridge) consists of the North Channel Bridge and the South Channel Bridge. The North Channel Bridge, spanning the north channel of the St. Lawrence River, between Cornwall, Ontario and Cornwall Island (Akwesasne), Ontario, is owned by The Federal Bridge Corporation Limited (FBCL). The South Channel Bridge, spanning the south channel of the St. Lawrence River, between Cornwall Island (Akwesasne), Ontario and Rooseveltown, New York, is jointly owned by the FBCL and Saint Lawrence Seaway Development Corporation of U.S. The Three Nations Bridge Crossing is operated and maintained by the FBCL’s subsidiary, The Seaway International Bridge Corporation Ltd. (SIBC).
The FBCL is in the process of replacing the existing high level North Channel Bridge with a new low level North Channel Bridge. The bridge replacement project consists of the following contracts:
- Contract 1: In Water Works
- Contract 2: Structures and Approach Detours
- Contract 3: High Level Bridge Demolition
- Contract 4: Brookdale Avenue and North Approach Reconstruction
The FBCL recently awarded Morrison Hershfield the construction administration services contract for Contract 1. The bridge replacement project is scheduled for completion by 2016. Further details can be found on the project web site.
