This year’s award was presented to the best term project in liquid waste management.  The projects covered Source Control Programs in Orange County, California; in Halifax, Canada; and in Stockholm, Sweden.  After two rounds of competition, first place went to the Orange County Case Study by Xavier Redhead, Alex Cancelli, Minh Tran and Rob Apkin.  Second place went to the Stockholm Case Study by Jim Ly, Lucy He, Sean Kerwin, Shea Hamilton and Camille Meillan.

The jury was composed of Dr. Paul Simms, assistant professor in the Carleton Civil and Environmental Engineering Department, Ms. Susan Logie, CCDP coordinator, Dr. Mustafa Ahmed, the course instructor and Hydrogeologist at Morrison Hershfield, and Ms. Mandy Witteman, the teaching assistant of the course.

The award certificates and cash prize were presented by Mr. Andrew Harkness, Manager of our Ottawa Environmental Department.  Mr. Harkness said, “It was a pleasure for Morrison Hershfield, as a representative of industry, to collaborate with Carleton University in sponsoring this award.  The students did an excellent job of presenting their projects.  Congratulations to all involved.”
