On February 1, 2008, Consulting Engineers of Alberta (CEA) presented Morrison Hershfield with an Award of Merit in the Studies, Software and Special Projects Category of the CEA Showcase Awards.

Morrison Hershfield and four sub-consultants explored unconventional options and used innovative techniques to arrive at a functional design for the 25/26 Avenue – Blackfoot Trail connector. The connector includes one of Calgary’s busiest intersections at Macleod Trail and 25 Avenue SE. The finished project will ensure a better connection to the south and east areas of Calgary with the downtown, the Calgary Exhibition and Stampede, and the city’s Manchester Yards. Grade separation solutions for the interchanges that are uncommon for urban arterial roadways were recommended.
