The Canadian Consulting Engineering Awards celebrate excellence in engineering and its many outstanding achievements of the past year. Morrison Hershfield is proud to be the recipient of an Award of Excellence in the Project Management category of the 2005 awards program.

Morrison Hershfield oversaw the construction and deployment of the wireless portion of Alberta's vast high-speed communications network. The Alberta SuperNet network is a unique project connecting people in remote communities to the rest of the world. There are 4,700 connections in 422 communities. Where the use of fibre-optic cabling is either too costly or not physically possible, the connection is made by high-capacity wireless data links.

The awards are co-sponsored and organized by Canadian Consulting Engineer magazine and the Association of Consulting Engineers of Canada.

Two other awards have been received for this project. Consulting Engineers of Alberta presented Morrison Hershfield with Awards of Merit in the Engineering and Project Management categories in their 2005 Showcase Awards.
