What to Expect on an Average Day

One thing is certain ... no two days at Morrison Hershfield will be the same!  For an idea of some of our staff's typical daily activities, read on.

Project Designer

  • Check emails and phone messages, and respond immediately to any urgent requests
  • Attend weekly departmental meetings to discuss upcoming workload and project deliverables
  • Correspond with staff from other offices nation-wide to discuss remote delivery on projects and establish budgets and proposals for potential work
  • Review status of projects currently under my management, from both a delivery and schedule standpoint, as well as resource allocation and financing
  • Work on various projects; usually either analysis and design of structural systems, brainstorming concepts and approaches to specific challenges, or developing unique and unconventional details to suit project or site restrictions.
  • Attend design team meetings to determine status of projects, identify critical path items and discuss coordination items with team members of other disciplines
  • Review project drawings with drafting team and collectively contribute towards creating a concise package for tendering and construction
  • Review contractor shop drawings for projects currently under or awaiting construction and provide comments or suggestions to facilitate fabrication and erection
