Morrison Hershfield was established in 1946 in Toronto when Carson Morrison, Charlie Hershfield, Joe Millman and Mark Huggins formed a partnership offering civil, structural and mechanical engineering services.   Today the company has an impressive track record of award-winning projects and has systematically grown to over 700 employees in offices across North America.

- Morrison, Hershfield, Millman and Huggins founded in Toronto, ON

 

1968 

 

- Office opened in Edmonton, AB

 

1970

 

- Company name changes to Morrison Hershfield Burgess and Huggins

 

1974

 

- Company founder Carson Morrison, P.Eng., awarded Professional Engineers Ontario Gold Medal

 

1982

 

 - Company name changed to Morrison Hershfield

 

1983

 

 - Maxim Engineering Inc. founded in Edmonton, AB

 

1985

 

 - Morrison Hershfield opens an office in Ottawa, ON

 

1990

 

-  Morrison Hershfield opens an office in Calgary, AB

 

1992

 

- Morrison Hershfield opens office in Vancouver, BC

 

1993

 

- Addition of Rolf Jensen and Associates brings fire prevention and code consulting services

 

1996

 

- Morrison Hershfield celebrates 50th Anniversary

 

1998

 

- Morrison Hershfield and Maunder Britnell merge
- Morrison Hershfield Corporation opens an office in Atlanta, GA

 

1999

 

- Merger results in Alberta firm Maxim Morrison Hershfield Limited

 

2000

 

- Morrison Hershfield Corporation opens an office in Fort Lauderdale, FL

 

2001 

 

 - Morrison Hershfield Corporation opens an office in Seattle, WA
 - Maxim Morrison Hershfield Limited name changed to Morrison Hershfield Limited

 

2002

 

 

- Company Chairman Art Johns, P.Eng., receives Gold Medal from Professional Engineers Ontario 
- Morrison Hershfield Unveils DualPole, The Ultimate Monopole Reinforcing Solution

 

2003

 

- Morrison Hershfield receives APWA Public Works Project of the Year Award and the CEA Award of Merit

 

2004

 

 

 

- Art Johns, P.Eng. presented with Canadian Council of Professional Engineers Gold Medal and inducted into the University of Toronto's Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering Hall of  Distinction 
- Offices opened in San Francisco, CA and Burlington, ON
- Life Sciences Added to Diverse Range of Specialties

 

2005  

 

- Office opened in Portland, OR 
- Morrison Hershfield receives three awards for the Alberta SuperNet project

 

2006

 

- Morrison Hershfield celebrates 60 years in business

 

2007 

 

 

- Offices opened in Charlotte, NC and Victoria, BC
- Draycott Environmental Inc. and Mitchell, Pound & Braddock join Morrison Hershfield
- Morrison Hershfield given "Employer Award for Career Enhancement and Success of Women as Technology Professionals"

 

2008

 

 

- Ruys & Company and Suncord Engineering Limited join forces with Morrison Hershfield
- Morrison Hershfield named one of the "Best Places to Work" by Calgary Inc. magazine
